Representing President Tebboune, Algerian PM Chairs in Addis Ababa the 35th Forum of Heads of State and Government of APRM

Representing the Algerian President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, on Friday in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), chaired the proceedings of the 35th Forum of Heads of State and Government of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).

At the opening of the session, the Prime Minister, on behalf of the outgoing Chairperson of the Forum, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, handed over the rotating presidency to the representative of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, Ms. Jessica Rose Epel Alupo, Vice President.

In an address read on his behalf by the Prime Minister, President Tebboune expressed his “deep gratitude for the confidence placed in Algeria throughout the past two years of its mandate at the head of the Forum.”

“It has been a great honor for us to serve our continent by leading the work of the Forum and contributing to the strengthening of governance and development in the countries of the continent,” he stated.

President Tebboune reaffirmed “Algeria’s full commitment to supporting Uganda during its presidency and to working, alongside the Forum, to strengthen cooperation and collective action, support peer review processes as a strategic tool for good governance, and consolidate African mechanisms in service of Agenda 2063.”

“This tradition of fraternal cooperation will continue to enrich and support the work of the Forum under the Ugandan presidency,” he assured.

On this occasion, the Algerian President wished the Ugandan President every success in fulfilling this noble mission, reiterating “Algeria’s unwavering commitment to contributing to the success of this African Mechanism.”

For their part, APRM members commended the contribution and commitment of the Algerian President supporting the Mechanism and promoting development and cooperation in Africa, stressing that his efforts “have helped consolidate the principles of good governance and strengthen reform processes and continental integration.”
