Kremlin Says No Response Yet to Putin’s Proposal on Using Frozen Russian Assets for Board of Peace

Moscow has not yet received any response to President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to allocate part of Russia’s assets frozen in the United States to the Board of Peace, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. Speaking to reporters, Peskov confirmed that the initiative had been formally put forward but remains unanswered.

He added that discussions on Russia’s potential participation in the Board of Peace are still ongoing. According to Peskov, the concept itself continues to be examined in line with instructions from the Russian president, with the Foreign Ministry working on the issue in coordination with Russia’s allies and partners.

President Putin previously stated that Russia was ready to contribute $1 billion from its assets frozen in the United States to the Board of Peace, which was established as part of the peace settlement framework for the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that Moscow was prepared to make this contribution even before questions surrounding formal participation in the Board and its operational work were fully resolved.
