Sahrawi Cause Gains Prominent Visibility at Brazil’s “Corrida de Reis” Marathon

The Sahrawi cause received significant attention at the “Corrida de Reis” marathon in Brazil’s capital, which drew nearly 20,000 professional and amateur runners.
According to local media reports, this year’s edition featured a strong presence of the Sahrawi cause through the participation of pro-Sahrawi activists, who carried the Sahrawi flag throughout the race in a symbolic gesture to draw attention to the people’s suffering and their fight for self-determination.
The “Corrida de Reis” is one of Brazil’s largest mass sporting events, drawing between 15,000 and 20,000 participants.
Beyond its athletic and celebratory aspects, it serves as an open platform for social expression and solidarity with just causes.
The race, which garnered significant media attention, provided another opportunity to spotlight the Sahrawi people’s struggle against the Moroccan occupation, as international solidarity initiatives increasingly support their right to self-determination and independence while denouncing severe human rights violations in the occupied territory.
