
Representing the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb arrived on Monday in the province of Oran to oversee the arrival and unloading of the first shipments of iron ore extracted from the Gara Djebilet mine in the province of Tindouf, destined for the Tosyali iron and steel complex in the district of Bethioua (east of Oran).
A high-level ministerial delegation accompanies the Prime Minister as part of the ceremonies marking the commissioning of the Gara Djebilet-Bechar-Oran mining train.
The delegation includes the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Said Sayoud, Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, and Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines in charge of Mines, Karima Bekir Tafar, as well as the Director General of Customs, Major General Abdelhafidh Bakhouche.
This strategic project is an important step in the valorization of national mining resources and the promotion of the iron industry, contributing to economic diversification and sustainable development in Algeria.
Yesterday, in Bechar, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, flagged off the first shipment of iron ore from the Gara Djebilet mine to be transported to Oran.
This shipment of iron ore was transported via the new 950 km Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Bechar western mining railway line, then via the Bechar-Oran railway line, covering a total distance of approximately 2,000 km.
