Iran Ready for “Fair and Equitable” Deal with US but Warns of Possible Escalation

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, has said that Tehran is prepared to reach a “fair and equitable” agreement with the United States, emphasizing that both countries are at a critical and decisive moment in their relations.

In a post on the social media platform X, Araghchi referenced his recent interview with CNN, noting that the current period is a pivotal juncture that could shape the future of US-Iran relations. He stressed that a fair and balanced agreement to ensure the absence of nuclear weapons is achievable within a short timeframe and would serve the interests of both sides, describing such an outcome as realistic and mutually beneficial.

At the same time, the Iranian foreign minister cautioned that an alternative scenario—driven by miscalculation or acts of aggression—cannot be ruled out. He affirmed that Iran is equally prepared for that scenario as it is for a diplomatic resolution. Araghchi’s remarks come amid ongoing uncertainty over negotiations, highlighting two possible paths ahead: a negotiated settlement or further escalation, each with significant regional and international consequences.
