Dozens Arrested After Anti-ICE Sit-In at Manhattan Hotel Over Immigration Crackdown

Dozens of protesters were detained Tuesday evening in Manhattan, New York, after staging a sit-in inside the lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn in the TriBeCa neighborhood. Demonstrators said the hotel was housing federal immigration agents involved in the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations, prompting the action.

More than 100 people reportedly gathered in the lobby and outside the hotel, wearing shirts with anti-ICE slogans and chanting against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Police officers entered the lobby and warned the crowd to disperse; when many refused, the New York Police Department began making arrests. Officials have not confirmed whether ICE agents were actually staying at the hotel.

The protest was part of a broader backlash against federal immigration policies following recent fatal shootings involving ICE and Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis, which have sparked demonstrations across Minnesota and elsewhere in the United States. Protesters are demanding accountability, transparency, and independent investigations into federal immigration enforcement actions.
