Trump’s Plane Turns Back to US Over Minor Electrical Issue En Route to Davos

President Donald Trump’s plane was forced to return to the United States shortly after takeoff late Tuesday while en route to Davos, Switzerland, due to what the White House described as a “minor electrical issue.” The aircraft, Air Force One, turned back as a precaution, officials said, stressing there was no immediate danger to the president.
“After takeoff, the AF1 crew identified a minor electrical issue. Out of an abundance of caution, AF1 is returning to Joint Base Andrews. The President and team will board a different aircraft and continue on to Switzerland,” the Trump White House’s Rapid Response account said in a post on the X platform. The White House did not provide further technical details about the issue.
Trump was traveling to Davos to attend the World Economic Forum, where global leaders and business executives are gathering amid heightened geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Before departing, he told reporters, “This will be an interesting trip. I have no idea what’s gonna happen, but you are well represented,” signaling his expectation of an eventful visit despite the travel disruption.
