OIC Convenes Emergency Meeting on Somalia

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced, on Wednesday, the convening of an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers on Saturday to examine the “dangerous” developments currently affecting the Federal Republic of Somalia.

OIC said that the meeting comes in response to recent developments linked to the Zionist entity’s recognition of “Somaliland” as an independent State, a move regarded as “a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial unity,” according to a statement from the OIC.

The meeting aims to “forge a unified Islamic position on these developments and reaffirm strong support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with international charters and relevant resolutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.” The Zionist entity recently announced recognition of what is called “Somaliland,” a decision that has prompted widespread international condemnation.
