Philippines: 6.7-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Mindanao Coast

A 6.7-magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Davao Oriental province in southern Philippines on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake occurred at 11:02 a.m. local time at a depth of 42 kilometers, with its epicenter located about 47 kilometers from the coastal town of Manay. Tremors were felt across the island, and authorities warned that aftershocks could occur, potentially causing damage, especially in areas near the epicenter.
The Philippines lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a major tectonic boundary known for frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity.
