United Nations: U.S. Operation in Venezuela Undermines International Law

The United Nations expressed deep concern on Tuesday over a military operation in Venezuela that led to the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, warning that it “undermines a fundamental principle of international law.”

Raveena Shamdasani, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, told reporters in Geneva that “states must not threaten or use force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any country.”
