President Tebboune Commends Algeria’s Statistically-Verified Achievements

President Tebboune on Tuesday commended Algeria’s achievements in several sectors, emphasizing that the announced figures reflect reality at a time when certain parties are attempting to obscure these accomplishments.

In an address to the nation before the members of the two houses of Parliament, at the Palace of Nations in Algiers, the President of the Republic said “our figures are accurate and under scrutiny, as if they weren’t, they would be the subject of international media coverage.” “There are cities built from scratch, yet they say nothing has changed.” President Tebboune went on to say that “for some, the yardstick for change in the country is the cessation of funds that used to go into their pockets.” He reiterated that “tactics of sowing confusion, extremism, insults, slander, and demoralizing the nation will not succeed in their objectives,” reminding that “in 2019 we were on the edge of an abyss and the discourse was asserting an inability to pay wages.” President Tebboune emphasized that “history shall not record that we ever ceased our support for the modest citizen,” citing the key social gains achieved, such as salary increases and his commitment to further raises, in addition to his pledge to continue recruitment efforts.

He said that “purchasing power is protected at its minimum threshold, and we combat on a daily basis those attempting to erode it, especially profiteers who target state benefits granted to citizens,” pointing out that such protection must also be maintained “through subsidizing prices of food, water, electricity, and housing, as well as free education.” On the housing front, the President of the Republic said that 1.7 million housing units have been completed since the start of his first term, disclosing that “the late former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika was compelled to revoke land grants to certain parties in the city of Sidi Abdallah, so that it could be returned to the people through housing projects.” Highlighting the achievements made in seawater desalination projects, the President of the Republic ordered the Prime Minister to “launch of water station projects in Tindouf and Tamanrasset.” On international affairs, he reiterated Algeria’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause.

Speaking of neighboring countries, President Tebboune said: “If good does not emanate from Algeria’s neighbors, then neither shall evil come from them.” He reiterated that a resolution to the situation in Libya “must remain solely in the hands of its own people.” Regarding relations with Tunisia, the President of the Republic warned against “attempts to sow discord between the two countries through narrow-minded agendas,” underscoring that “the security of Algeria is an extension of Tunisia’s security, and the security of Tunisia is an extension of Algeria’s.” “We have never interfered in the internal affairs of sisterly Tunisia, and our army has never set foot on Tunisian soil,” President Tebboune said, stressing that “patriotism in Tunisia is profoundly strong.” “Some attempt to portray it as easy prey but they are mistaken.” The President of the Republic noted that “there are those who seek to dismantle the fraternal bond between Algeria and Tunisia, believing that doing so would make the country easier to target.” He concluded by saying that President Kais Saied is not a proponent of normalization with the Zionist entity, stressing that “any threat to Tunisia is a threat to Algeria.”
