Morocco: Warnings over Zionist infiltration attempts in universities under “scientific research” cover

The Moroccan Student Union (UNEM) has once again raised alarm regarding Zionist attempts to infiltrate within the Kingdom’s universities under the guise of “scientific research,” denouncing the Makhzen’s continued pursuit of the “ill-fated” normalization process against the will of the people who reject any relations with this usurping entity.
The Union affirmed, in a statement, that among the most dangerous aspects of normalization targeting collective consciousness in Morocco, are attempts at academic infiltration within Moroccan universities, where campuses have become vulnerable to Zionist project penetration through “research” channels.
In this regard, it noted direct attempts by the Makhzen regime to introduce the Zionist entity into Moroccan universities since the signing of the normalization agreement at the end of 2020, through agreements, lectures and suspicious partnerships with Zionist universities and research centers, pointing out that the goal of normalization is not merely to legitimize the occupation, but to impose the reality of academic normalization upon students and professors.
UNEM said that academic normalization in Morocco is evident in the infiltration of universities through agreements and partnerships with Zionist institutions, denouncing these steps that aim to impose normalization upon students and professors, despite widespread rejection from the academic and civil society communities.
It emphasized that the fifth anniversary of the signing of the ill-fated normalization agreement comes at a “painful political moment,” characterized by a blatant violation of the will of the Moroccan people and their firmly established historical principles in supporting the Palestinian cause and their categorical rejection of all forms of relations with the occupying entity.
In this regard, the head of the Moroccan Observatory Against Normalization, Ahmed Wehmane, warned of continuing on this “treasonous” path, underlining that rejection of normalization “is not an emotional position, but rather a strategic national position,” stressing that “normalization is not a bilateral relationship or a political interest, but rather complicity in crime at Palestine’s expense and at the cost of Morocco’s stability, unity and future.” He warned that the events of the past two years have demonstrated that “normalization brings nothing but infiltration, disintegration, threats to national security and attempts to impose a colonial narrative and Zionist agenda on Morocco,” reiterating his appeal to all vital political, trade union, human rights, youth and cultural forces, to continue popular mobilization to overturn normalization, defend Palestine and stand with the nation’s just causes.
