Kurti’s Vetevendosje Claims Landslide Victory in Kosovo Parliamentary Elections

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s ruling party, Vetevendosje (Self-Determination Movement), declared victory on Sunday following early parliamentary elections, securing nearly half of the votes cast. With around 98% of ballots counted, the party garnered 49.62%, cementing its position as the dominant political force in the Balkan country.
Speaking at the party’s headquarters in Pristina, Kurti described the outcome as the “biggest victory in the history of the country.” He said that once final results are confirmed, Vetevendosje will form the new government and continue its agenda, expressing hope for cooperation from opposition parties to ensure the passage of international agreements in parliament. Kurti later celebrated the victory with supporters in the capital.
According to the Kosovo Central Election Commission, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) placed second with 21.17%, followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 13.68% and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) with 5.71%. Preliminary turnout stood at 44.99%, with authorities reporting a calm voting process.
