Algeria : Mansouri Receives Ghanaian Political Activist, Former MP Abdoulaye Mohamed Barak

The Secretary of State to the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, received on Tuesday, at the ministry headquarters, Ghanaian political activist and former MP Abdoulaye Mohamed Barak, who is on a visit to Algeria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs said in a statement.

Barak’s visit to Algeria is part of a “tour of several African countries” aimed at “facilitating free movement” and “strengthening exchanges and communication among citizens across the continent,” according to the statement.

The meeting emphasized “the importance of unity, solidarity, and cooperation among African peoples and States, and the need to continue efforts and initiatives to strengthen continental cohesion and unite African positions and voices in support of the continent’s common causes,” the statement added.

Referring to his visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf, Barak “reaffirmed their legitimate right to self-determination,” pointing out that “the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is Africa’s last colony and a founding member of the African Union.” Algeria’s pivotal continental role and leadership was hailed, as well as the Algerian authorities’ commitment to strengthening African partnerships and projects, particularly in economic integration and trade development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, “Mansouri received a letter from Barak addressed to the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” said the source.
