Mansouri Chairs Meeting of Algeria’s APRM Focal Point Committee

Algeria’s Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, Bakhta Selma Mansouri, chaired on Thursday the meeting of the Focal Point Committee of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), held by videoconference, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs said in a statement.

The meeting was described as “a central step in preparing for the APRM Forum of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for February 2026, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his capacity as Chair of the Forum.” The event will also mark the handover of the APRM Chairmanship from Algeria to Uganda, in a context that “upholds the principle of continuity in steering continental efforts toward promoting governance and strengthening coordination among member states,” the statement noted.

Reviewing “the progress made in APRM programs and the reports of the continental secretariat,” the Committee also examined files related to “the development of governance tools” before hearing a presentation on “the outcomes of the 5th Youth Symposium and the efforts aimed at strengthening youth participation in governance and development pathways across the continent,” the same source added.
