Algerian FM Holds Talks with South Africa’s Deputy FM

The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held talks, at the Ministry’s headquarters on Thursday, with the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Alvin Botes, according to a statement from the Ministry.

The statement said that Alvin Botes is on an official visit to Algeria, primarily to represent his country at the 12th High-Level Forum on Peace and Security in Africa “Oran Process”, held in Oran on 1-2 December 2025.

During their talks, the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the accelerating pace of cooperation between the two brotherly countries, particularly in the context of implementing the outcomes of the latest session of the Algeria-South Africa Joint High Commission, which was co-chaired in Algeria by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his South African counterpart, President Cyril Ramaphosa.

In the same context, the two FMs highlighted the harmony and convergence of their countries’ positions on continental and international issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and the question of Western Sahara, renewing their firm commitment to the relevant resolutions of international legality and to the established principles of international law in the field of decolonization, said the source.
