Its strategic objectives are aligned with the national vision prioritizing artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and advanced technologies to stimulate innovation in the healthcare sector, Industry 4.0, education, and smart mobility. He indicated that the digital ecosystem is expected to generate US$9 billion in GDP contribution in 2025 and US$13 billion by 2030, through job creation, added value, and attracting investors.

The CEO of Ooredoo Algeria, Roni Tohme, emphasized that the official launch of 5G marks a major milestone for the operator, which pledges to act as a key player in Algeria’s digital transformation by offering innovative 5G services and extensive coverage to all citizens, in line with the national vision for a modern and connected digital future.

The official launch of 5G allows operators “to roll out the first 5G stations and prepare offers for citizens and businesses, in accordance with a national plan guaranteeing gradual and balanced coverage over a period of six years,” with the ultimate goal of achieving nationwide coverage, according to the ministry.

This official launch crowns several months of intense preparations with tests, conducted under the supervision of the ARPCE, which demonstrated technical maturity prior to the granting of licenses in July.

Last April, the President of the Republic gave the green light for this service, emphasizing the need for integrated and effective deployment.

The licenses were officially awarded in July and confirmed by publication in November edition of the Official Journal.

Deployment will begin in eight pilot provinces, with the ambitious goal of gradually expanding coverage across the country.
