China Reaffirms Support for Long-Term Peace Deal in Ukraine

China supports a “comprehensive and long-term” peace agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine and will continue strategic consultations with Moscow, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.

“China supports all efforts to achieve peace [in Ukraine], calls for a comprehensive and long-term peace agreement, and will continue to maintain strategic communication with Russia on the matter,” Wang stated.

Beijing has consistently positioned itself as an advocate for negotiation-based solutions to the Ukraine conflict while preserving close ties with Russia. Wang’s remarks reaffirm China’s desire to remain an active diplomatic player in shaping any future settlement.
