The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, commended, on Monday, the “constructive” role played by Algeria during its membership in the United Nation Security Council (UNSC), reaffirming that “Algeria will remain a fundamental pillar of African diplomacy.” “Algeria will remain the cornerstone of African diplomacy, given the pivotal roles it undertakes in supporting our continent’s causes and strengthening its unity,” said Mahmoud Ali Youssouf in his speech during the opening of the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center.
According to the AU official, the “Oran Process,” which has become synonymous with this annual African conference, marks “a crucial milestone in building African solidarity and safeguarding our countries’ interests in global forums,” he added. “I commend the constructive role that Algeria played during its recent term in the United Nations Security Council, where it defended African causes with full responsibility and competence, and succeeded in amplifying the continent’s voice to the international community during a period marked by unprecedented geo-political challenges.”
