Witkoff–Putin Meeting Set for Tomorrow as Moscow Prepares for Key US Talks

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet US special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff on the afternoon of December 2. Speaking to reporters, Peskov noted that Witkoff himself had disclosed the expected meeting a day earlier, and that preparations were already underway in Moscow.
According to Peskov, President Putin will hold several closed-door meetings throughout the day to prepare for the upcoming Russia–US contacts. The encounter with Witkoff marks a significant moment in the ongoing diplomatic push to advance discussions on a potential settlement to the Ukrainian crisis.
The Wall Street Journal had earlier reported that Witkoff, accompanied by Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, would travel to Moscow on Monday for continued talks aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Their visit comes amid renewed efforts by Washington and Moscow to explore a framework capable of moving the stalled peace process forward.
