Algerian PM Highlights Exemplary Algeria-Egypt Cooperation, Successful Partnerships

The Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, said on Wednesday in Cairo, that Algeria and Egypt are united by a rich economic record of exemplary cooperation and successful partnerships in several fields.

PM Ghrieb made this statement at the opening ceremony of the 9th Algerian-Egyptian Joint High Commission, which he co-chaired with his Egyptian counterpart, Mostafa Madbouly.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the commitment of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi “has resulted in enhanced cooperation and partnership relations with a strategic character, elevating them to the highest levels of integration,” serving the interests of both countries and the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for “more cooperation, rapprochement and intertwining of interests and benefits.” “Bilateral cooperation and partnership will reach a level worthy of our two brotherly peoples’ shared liberation struggle, mirroring both leaders’ commitment at the Cairo Summit on October 25-26 of last year and ongoing communications, most recently on October 8.”

The PM recalled that “during the past few years, the two countries have recorded many achievements in economic and commercial fields and have implemented several major and successful joint investment projects in the energy and petrochemical sectors, especially nitrogen fertilizers in Oran, electric cables in Ain Defla, and pharmaceutical industry in Algiers, and other promising projects in other fields, such as construction, public works, services and agriculture.” He noted that “some of these companies have started exporting their products abroad, and Egypt has become one of Algeria’s largest economic partners in trade and investment partnership.”

He described the energy sector as “a cornerstone of our cooperation across all its branches,” noting that “just weeks ago, Algeria’s Sonatrach Group and Egypt’s Petrojet signed an agreement to create a joint company for manufacturing oil and gas equipment and developing Algeria’s Hassi Bir Rekaiz field.” Ghrieb emphasized that “as major gas producers with substantial liquefaction and LNG export potential, our countries should intensify consultation and coordination to maximize our use of this vital resource and protect our interests amid global developments that have made energy a key component of international relations.”

He stressed that “the positive results known in the partnership between the two countries require us to work on multiplying them, especially as Algeria’s new investment law provides the necessary facilities and required incentives to create a favorable environment for attracting and drawing direct investments and increasing the volume of their flows.” He affirmed that “Algeria and Egypt have taken great strides in building a robust model partnership that fills us with pride and, inspires us to set even higher ambitions for stronger cooperation.”

The PM held one-on-one talks with the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mostafa Madbouly, at the headquarters of the Council of Ministers in the New Capital of Egypt, on Wednesday, as part of the 9th Algerian-Egyptian Joint High Commission.
