Algeria, Egypt Discuss Energy Partnership Expansion

Algerian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy, Mourad Adjal, met on Wednesday, with Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, at the ministry’s headquarters in Cairo (Egypt), where they discussed ways to develop partnership in electricity and renewable energy.
During the meeting, held as part of Adjal’s participation in the Algerian-Egyptian Joint High Commission held in Cairo, the two sides reviewed the existing cooperation relations between the two countries in the electricity and new and renewable energy sectors, and ways to upgrade them towards more diversified and effective partnerships, particularly in green hydrogen and energy efficiency.
In this regard, a comprehensive cooperation agreement in the field of energy transition and renewable energy is under preparation, aimed at exchanging experiences, consultations, and experts, developing joint programs, as well as discussing opportunities for establishing mutually beneficial projects in these promising sectors.
The two sides also discussed prospects for developing electricity interconnection cooperation between Algeria and Egypt, via Tunisia and Libya, with a view to enhancing energy security in the Arab and African regions while optimizing investment in electrical infrastructure. The ministers also discussed fostering cooperation in training and human resource development in the aforementioned fields, given the considerable experience and capabilities of both countries in terms of training structures.
