Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons, U.S. Ambassador Discuss Expanding Cooperation to Equipment Manufacturing

Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines Mohamed Arkab received U.S. Ambassador to Algeria Elizabeth Moore Aubin on Wednesday.

The two discussed bilateral Algeria-U.S. relations and prospects for strengthening them, particularly in hydrocarbons and mining, as well as ways to extend cooperation to the manufacturing of equipment and supplies for the oil and gas industry, according to a ministry statement.

During the meeting, attended by executives from both sides, the parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing dialogue and cooperation amid global shifts in energy and natural resources markets, in a manner that serves the interests of both nations and promotes sustainable development, the statement added.

Arkab highlighted the value of ongoing exchanges and consultations between Algerian and American companies particularly Sonatrach, ExxonMobil, and Chevron and called for expanding cooperation to include manufacturing and modern technologies for emissions reduction.

The discussions also covered potential collaboration in innovation, research and development, experience-sharing, and training in advanced oil and gas technologies to boost local value addition and facilitate knowledge and technology transfer, the source noted.

For her part, Ambassador Aubin expressed satisfaction with the excellent level of bilateral relations, commended Algeria’s favorable business climate, and noted the confidence U.S. institutions place in the Algerian market.

She affirmed the willingness of American companies to reinforce their presence and investments in Algeria through long-term partnerships in the oil and gas sector, the statement concluded.
