Tebboune Reaffirms Algeria’s Commitment to Sustainable Development

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed on Tuesday Algeria’s commitment to remain an active and responsible partner in international efforts for sustainable development and the building of a fairer, more united, and more humane world.
In a speech read on his behalf by the President of the Council of the Nation, Azouz Nasri, during the 2nd World Summit for Social Development in Doha (Qatar), President Tebboune stated: “My country, Algeria, will continue to play its role as an active and responsible partner in international efforts toward sustainable development and the construction of a fairer, more united, and more humane world, while respecting national sovereignty and promoting international cooperation based on mutual respect.”
He explained that Algeria’s participation in the Summit aims to showcase its national approach to social development,
“based on a vision that makes social justice, protection of vulnerable groups, and inclusion the cornerstones of public policy—consistent with the commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration (1995) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
The President highlighted Algeria’s social and economic measures designed to improve citizens’ living standards and reduce poverty, including:
“raising the guaranteed national minimum wage (SNMG), introducing unemployment benefits for first-time job seekers, revising salaries and pensions, exempting low incomes from taxation, and extending solidarity allowances to vulnerable groups and persons with disabilities.”
