Algerian FM Attaf, IAEA Chief Discuss Expanding Nuclear Cooperation

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received today at the Ministry’s headquarters the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, who is on an official visit to Algeria.
According to the Algerian Foreign Ministry, the meeting began with a one-on-one discussion between the Minister and the Director General, followed by expanded talks attended by members of both delegations. The discussions provided an opportunity to review various areas of cooperation between Algeria and the IAEA in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to explore ways to enhance and expand this partnership, particularly in fields related to sustainable development such as health, agriculture, water resources, and renewable energy.
The two sides also discussed ways to further their joint efforts to support African countries in benefiting from nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, thereby promoting development and strengthening African cooperation in this vital sector.
