UN and Algeria United by Shared Vision of Peace, Justice, and Solidarity, Says UN representative

The United Nations and Algeria share a common vision of building a world based on peace, justice and solidarity, Savina Ammassari, UN Resident Coordinator in Algeria said Wednesday in Algiers.

The UN and Algeria share the same goal: creating a world of peace, justice and solidarity, Ammassari said during her remarks at the celebration of Algerian Diplomacy Day, coinciding with the UN’s 80th anniversary, adding “Together, let’s work to ensure we can say tomorrow that yes, we rose to meet the challenges of our era and fulfilled the promises of the UN Charter.” The UN representative highlighted Algeria’s achievements across various sectors in recent years.

Algeria has grounded its diplomatic efforts in a vision of peace and solidarity, she emphasized.

From combating apartheid to championing national liberation movements, from advancing multilateralism to playing an active mediation role regionally, Algeria is recognized as a vital player in dialogue and cooperation, she underlined.

This legacy continues today through initiatives promoting regional stability, African solidarity and defending Global South interests, she stressed.

She pointed out that the country is making determined progress: diversifying its economy, pursuing energy transition, ensuring food security, strengthening social protection, and investing in youth and women.

“Through the implementation of our Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development 2023-2027, the United Nations are partners of the Algerian government to support these national priorities,” she said.
