Algeria: Urgent Medical Evacuation of British Passenger Off Skikda (MND)

ALGIERS, Oct 8, 2025 – A British passenger suffering from a serious illness aboard a passenger ship was urgently evacuated by a unit of the Coast Guards of the Naval Forces Command off Cap de Fer, in the province of Skikda, the Algerian Ministry of National Defence (MND) said Wednesday.
“As part of the humanitarian missions and efforts of the Coast Guards under the Naval Forces Command, the National Maritime Surveillance and Rescue Operations Center received, on the morning of October 8, 2025, an urgent medical evacuation request from the crew of the passenger ship Sky Princess, traveling from Italy to Spain, concerning a British national in critical condition,” the statement said.
“An immediate sea evacuation operation was launched 35 nautical miles north of Cap de Fer (Skikda), involving a search and rescue helicopter (AS-14) from the 560th Search and Rescue Helicopter Squadron,” the statement added, noting that “the British passenger was promptly airlifted to El Hadjar Hospital in Annaba to receive necessary medical care.”
