Algeria, Egypt Presidents Discuss Regional Developments

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received a phone call Wednesday from his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, during which the two leaders discussed developments in their respective regions and their impact on both nations, the Algerian presidency said in a statement.
The two presidents also reviewed the “deep-rooted bilateral relations anchored in the shared history of struggle” between their peoples and countries, the statement added. They agreed to “intensify cooperation across all sectors.”
Both sides also agreed to hold “as soon as possible” the next session of the Algerian-Egyptian Joint High Commission and to schedule mutual visits at the highest level.
On this occasion, President Tebboune congratulated President Sisi on Egypt’s election to the presidency of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Praising the move as “a renewed recognition of Egypt as a great nation with a millennia-old culture,” Tebboune said the Egyptian presidency of UNESCO “will benefit the entire international community.”
