Algeria, Oman’s Petrogas Sign Two Agreements to Assess Hydrocarbon Potential

The Algerian Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (Alnaft) and the Omani company Petrogas signed on Wednesday in Oran two study agreements to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of two perimeters located respectively in the Touggourt and Berkine basins.

Signed on the sidelines of the “North Africa Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (NAPEC 2025)” by Alnaft President Samir Bekhti and Petrogas CEO Kingsuk Sen, these two agreements fall within the framework of a broader accord concluded between the two parties on June 29.

The agreements provide for geological, geophysical, and reservoir studies on the Hassi Toumiat and El Borma-Hassi Keskassa perimeters, with the aim of proposing an investment program at a later stage.

According to Bekhti, these studies aim to identify new opportunities to enhance Algeria’s hydrocarbon resources while strengthening cooperation between Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman in energy research and development.

“These studies will help improve the productivity of existing fields in both basins, some of which face technical challenges, and facilitate new discoveries around current sites,” he explained.

For his part, Petrogas CEO Kingsuk Sen, representing the Omani group MB LLC, expressed his company’s commitment to further contributing to Algeria’s energy development, particularly through projects focused on research, production enhancement, and the exploitation of mature fields.
