Algeria is participating for the first time in the international tourism fair “TTG Travel Experience,” held from October 8 to 10 in the Italian city of Rimini, with the aim of promoting the country’s diverse tourism and cultural assets, the National Tourist Office (ONT) said Wednesday in a statement.
This participation falls within the framework of the Ministry of Tourism’s action plan and ongoing efforts to promote “Algeria as a tourist destination at both regional and international levels,” particularly through the ONT, which will represent the sector at the fair, taking place at the Rimini Exhibition Center in Italy, the statement noted.
According to the ONT, Algeria’s presence aims to “highlight the country’s diverse tourism and cultural assets,” showcase “the variety of its tourism products,” and “strengthen cooperation opportunities with international operators—especially in the European market—while reinforcing Algeria’s image as a promising Mediterranean and global tourist destination.”
Organized annually by the Italian Exhibition Group, this event is considered “the most important professional tourism meeting in Italy,” serving as an international platform that brings together key players, experts, and professionals in the tourism industry.
The 2024 edition recorded “a significant increase in visitor numbers compared to 2023,” with the participation of over 55 startups presenting innovative solutions in the tourism sector, alongside more than 200 activities attended by over 250 international experts and professionals.
For this occasion, the ONT has set up a special stand designed to reflect “Algeria’s cultural and historical authenticity,” emphasizing “its Saharan and cultural dimension as a distinctive symbol of national tourism identity.”
The Office will present both print and digital promotional materials, including brochures, leaflets, films, and advertising videos, allowing visitors and professionals to discover Algeria’s wide range of tourist destinations.
An area will also be dedicated to promoting archaeological tourism and Roman sites, “given that Algeria ranks second in the world, after Italy, in terms of the richness and diversity of its Roman archaeological heritage—making it a cultural and tourist bridge between the two countries.”
The Algerian stand will also offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy 3D virtual tours of some of Algeria’s most exceptional tourist destinations.
In addition to the ONT, several tourism operators will participate to present their programs and hold bilateral (B2B) meetings with Italian travel agencies and tour operators to strengthen partnerships and professional cooperation in the tourism sector. Artisans and a musical group will also take part in the booth’s activities. Meetings with international media are scheduled to further highlight Algeria’s tourism potential, the statement concluded.
