UN Rights Office Calls for Probe into Attacks on Gaza Flotilla

The UN Human Rights Office on Wednesday called for an end to attacks on the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla and demanded an independent, impartial and thorough investigation, spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan said.
Al-Kheetan described the attacks, including alleged drone strikes, explosions and communication jamming near Greece, as actions that “defy belief” and warned that any responsible parties must be held accountable.
Italy has publicly condemned the strikes and dispatched the navy frigate Fasan for possible assistance, highlighting broad international concern for the safety of activists aboard the flotilla—including several Europeans and high-profile figures such as Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
Organizers say their flotilla, which set sail from Barcelona in early September, aims to challenge the Zionist naval blockade and deliver symbolic aid to Gaza.
