Algeria will host the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Middle East & North Africa Regional Meeting from September 25 to 27, with delegations from 30 countries expected to attend, organizers said Wednesday.
The event, held at the Cultural Center of Djammaâ El-Djazaîr, is organized by the Algerian Diabetes Association in coordination with the National Society of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (SNOMM) and the National Foundation for the Fight Against Diabetes.
Under the patronage of the Minister of Health, the meeting will bring together national and international experts to discuss the rising prevalence of diabetes and its economic impact in Algeria and across the MENA region.
Sessions will highlight therapeutic advances, best practices in patient care, and international recommendations adapted to regional health and socio-economic realities. Algerian expertise will also be showcased through contributions from local practitioners.
Topics include prevention, early detection, and multidisciplinary management of diabetes, as well as initiatives to improve access to care and therapeutic education. The debates will also address the growing economic burden of diabetes, stressing the urgent need for investment in prevention, health education and integrated public policies.
The meeting will conclude with recommendations on harmonizing clinical practices, patient monitoring, preventive strategies, continuous training for health professionals, and strengthening regional cooperation, organizers said.
