Commissioned by Algerian President, Attaf to Represent Algeria at Key UN High-Level Meetings

Commissioned by the Algerian President, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, arrived on Saturday in New York to participate in the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly held under the theme, “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights,” the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
In this regard, Ahmed Attaf will represent Algeria in the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled from September 23 to 30, 2025. He will also participate in several high-level meetings at the UN Security Council, foremost among them the debate session requested by Algeria and a number of Islamic countries on the Palestinian issue, as well as the meeting convened by the Republic of Korea — which holds the Council’s presidency for the month of September — on the impact of artificial intelligence on international peace and security, according to the statement.
On the sidelines of the high-level segment of the General Assembly, Attaf will take part in meetings organized within the framework of the geopolitical groups to which Algeria belongs, including the League of Arab States, the African Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the Group of 77 and China. Moreover, he will hold “numerous bilateral meetings with his counterparts from brotherly, friendly, and partner countries, as well as with senior officials from the United Nations and other international organizations,” the source added.
