Algeria organized on Wednesday in Osaka, Japan, a scientific conference on its national strategy for the development of renewable energy and hydrogen, as part of the “Expo 2025” World Exhibition.

Entitled “Roadmap for Progress and Global Ambition,” the conference was led by experts from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines and the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy. It was held within the framework of the “Future of the Earth and Biodiversity” week, scheduled from September 17 to 28.

Followed by an open day at the Algeria Pavilion to promote the sector, the event provided an opportunity to present the main pillars of the National Strategy for the Development of Renewable Energy and Hydrogen, and to highlight major achievements, particularly under the national renewable energy program aimed at generating 15,000 megawatts by 2035, said Miloud Medjelled, Director of Foresight at the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines.

The discussions also emphasized human capital development, international cooperation, investment, and financing, while showcasing Algeria’s foundations in solar and wind energy.
