The speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament) and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Brahim Boughali arrived Sunday in Cairo, to chair the works of the 39th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), scheduled for September 9, the Lower House said in a statement.
Upon his arrival in the international airport of Cairo, Boughali was welcomed by the Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, Hanafi Jabali, Algeria’s Ambassador to Cairo and the Secretary General of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, the statement said.
“The meeting is part of efforts to strengthen joint Arab parliamentary action, coordinate efforts to address current challenges, and discuss issues on the Arab and international agenda, with a view to consolidating the role of parliaments in defending the causes of the nation and fulfilling the aspirations of its peoples.”
