The Algerian President, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, presided over a working meeting on Thursday focused on the commerce sector and the enhancement of mechanisms for regulating the national market, according to a statement from the Presidential Office.
During the meeting, the President issued directives aimed at intensifying vigilance in supplying the national market with various products to prevent any disruption or shortage of essential consumer goods, as specified in the statement.
He also underscored the necessity of acting with rigor to fulfill citizens’ needs while ensuring compliance with and enforcement of the Republic’s laws in the fight against fraud and speculation, all without adversely affecting the basic necessities of Algerians.
Furthermore, the President commended the integrity of the majority of economic operators and farmers, recognizing their crucial role in supporting the state’s efforts to organize the market, according to the source.
The meeting was attended by Acting Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb; Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, General Said Chanegriha; Director of the Cabinet at the Presidency, Boualem Boualem; Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab; along with ministers from Finance, Agriculture, Industry, Domestic Trade and National Market Regulation, Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, and Pharmaceutical Industry sectors. Also present were the Presidential Advisor in charge of General Directorate of Communication, the Director General of Internal Security, the Acting Commander of the National Gendarmerie, the head of the Organization-Logistics Department of the People’s National Army’s General Staff, the Director General of National Security, the Governor of the Bank of Algeria, and the President of the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF).
Additionally, the meeting included Presidents and General Directors of the Algerian Interprofessional Cereals Office (OAIC), the National Interprofessional Office of Milk and Dairy Products (ONIL), the Agro-industries group (Agrodiv), Naftal, the Central Pharmacy of Hospitals (PCH), the Agro-logistics group (Agrolog), and the Saidal group, according to the Presidential statement.
