NPA Highlights Algeria’s Commitment to South-South Cooperation from Guatemala

The Vice-President of the Algerian National People’s Assembly (NPA), Toufik Guezout, emphasized Algeria’s dedication to strengthening South-South cooperation during remarks made from Guatemala. He asserted that parliamentary diplomacy acts as “a vital lever for uniting peoples and building sustainable partnerships,” according to a statement released by the assembly on Wednesday.

Guezout delivered his address on behalf of NPA President Brahim Boughali at the General Assembly of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), convened at its permanent headquarters in Guatemala. He expressed pride in Algeria’s parliamentary cooperation with countries in the region, highlighting “the significance Algeria places on fortifying South-South cooperation, viewing parliamentary diplomacy as essential for nurturing closer ties between peoples and establishing enduring partnerships.”

He stated, “Under the enlightened leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria prioritizes this direction,” further explaining that “the collaboration between the NPA and Parlacen aligns with this vision.”

Additionally, he pointed out “Algeria’s efforts during its tenure as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, particularly in defending the Palestinian cause and advocating for an end to aggression against the Palestinian people.” He concluded by stating that “as the largest country in Africa, Algeria aspires to serve as a communication bridge between Africa and Central America, advancing the interests of the peoples of both continents.”
