“Zighoud Youcef” Film Honors Algerian Revolutionary Hero on National Mujaheed Day

SKIKDA — The feature film “Zighoud Youcef,” retracing the life and struggle of this hero, architect of the 20 August 1955 attacks, was screened Tuesday evening in Skikda in the presence of the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laïd Rebiga, as part of the official celebration of the National Mujaheed Day marking the dual anniversary of the North-Constantinois offensive and the Congress of Soummam (20 August 1955-1956).

Speaking to the press after the screening, the Minister said that future productions “will not be limited to biographical feature films, but will also include documentaries produced in high definition using the latest methods, as well as works aimed at young people, so that the message may reach all segments of society.”

Rebiga added that these initiatives “are in line with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who stresses the importance of comprehensive and accurate documentation of all aspects of the glorious Revolution, of the stages that preceded it, and of all the events that marked it, particularly as Algeria’s history is rich in heroic acts and decisive milestones.”

He considered that the film dedicated to Zighoud Youcef, a “great and emblematic revolutionary figure,” helps “revive in memory the humanity of this hero, his patriotism and that of all the Martyrs and Mujahideen who sacrificed themselves for this nation.”
