Algerian Yazid Mansouri Takes the Helm as Sporting Director of ES Tunis

Espérance Sportive de Tunis has brought on board former Algerian international Yazid Mansouri as its new sporting director, marking another step in the club’s bid to shake up its football department.
In a statement posted on its official page, the Bab Souika outfit announced that, “As part of the ongoing restructuring program for the football department, Espérance Sportive de Tunis has appointed Algerian Yazid Mansouri as sporting director.”
The club was quick to point out Mansouri’s long and storied playing career, which kicked off in 1997 at Le Havre in France. Over more than 15 years on the pitch, he turned out for a range of European and Arab clubs, including Coventry City in England (2003–2004), Châteauroux (2004–2006), Lorient (2006–2010), Al-Sailiya in Qatar (2010–2011), and CS Constantine (2012–2013).
Capped 70 times for the Algerian national team — and wearing the armband for seven years — Mansouri hung up his boots in 2013 before moving into sports management. Since then, he has taken on various roles at both club and federation levels. He headed up recruitment and worked as a talent scout for Stade Rennais (2017–2018), and also had stints with Olympiakos in Greece, Nottingham Forest in England, and Monza in Italy.
On top of that, Mansouri sat on the federal bureau of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) and steered the national teams as general coordinator from 2014 to 2017.
With this appointment, Espérance seems determined to revamp its sporting strategy and tap into Mansouri’s wealth of experience to keep the club at the top of its game.
