ALGIERS – Algeria will host the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) from September 4 to 10, with the ambition of making the event a powerful driver for boosting trade, attracting investment, and strengthening the continent’s economic integration.
Held under the theme “A Gateway to New Opportunities,” this edition is set to be the most ambitious since the launch of the IATF in 2018, both in terms of the number of participants and the economic agreements expected. More than 2,000 exhibitors from 75 countries, 35,000 professional visitors, and trade and investment deals potentially exceeding $44 billion position IATF 2025 as a major catalyst for African economic integration. The event will take place at the Palais des Expositions (Pins Maritimes – Algiers) in collaboration with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union Commission, and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The program will feature a multi-sector exhibition covering agriculture, industry, energy, finance, health, transport, research, innovation, and startups, alongside key events such as the Trade and Investment Forum, the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) summit, B2B meetings, a special day dedicated to the African diaspora, and the African Auto Show. Dedicated spaces will also showcase young African entrepreneurs, university students, and researchers, with themed days for public and private sector entities to present opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, and culture.
Algeria aims to make this the most impactful and internationally visible edition of the IATF, reaffirming its role as a driver of African development. To ensure success, the country is mobilizing all necessary organizational and logistical resources. At the April 20 Council of Ministers meeting, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune instructed that all necessary facilities be provided for African partners’ participation, stressing the fair’s importance in promoting intra-African trade. He also called for close coordination and joint efforts, highlighting Algeria’s experience and leadership at both the African and international levels.
The event’s preparations have been repeatedly praised by organizing partners. In early July, during a promotional event in Algiers, Olusegun Obasanjo, Chair of the IATF Advisory Council and former Nigerian president, expressed confidence in the event’s success, noting the strong interest and support it has received from Algerian authorities under President Tebboune’s leadership. He said the 2025 edition would mark a new stage in the continent’s “economic emancipation.” On Sunday, Algerian diplomat Larbi Latrèche was appointed as IATF 2025 Commissioner, assisted by Abdelkrim Beha and Messaoud Mehila, Algeria’s ambassadors to Jordan and Mexico respectively.
