Palestinian People Are Enduring Unprecedented Genocide, Says Ambassador

Fayez Abu Aita, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Algeria, asserted on Monday that the Palestinian people are suffering from the worst genocide in history, inflicted by Zionist occupation through various brutal means, including famine. He urged for immediate action from the global community to put an end to this atrocity.

“Famine has emerged as a new weapon wielded by the occupier, targeting children, women, and the elderly in Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which has been ravaged by a horrific war for over 20 months. This situation has led to an unprecedented genocide, unparalleled in both ancient and modern history,” he emphasized, pointing out that areas such as Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, the Jabalia camp in the north, and Rafah in the south have been utterly devastated.

The ambassador also highlighted that Palestinians, especially children, women, and the elderly, face severe famine that results in the daily deaths of dozens. He noted that this famine is used as a pretext to open so-called “humanitarian aid centers,” which have instead become “deadly traps.”

Since these centers opened nearly two months ago, 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by live ammunition and direct attacks, the diplomat reported, specifying that more than a hundred individuals were killed on Sunday in the “Zikim” area near the Beit Lahia border while waiting for a simple sack of flour to feed their children.

Addressing the world, the diplomat posed a poignant question: “Who could endure such a life for months, or even days, when residents of Gaza have been forced to do so for years?” He characterized this situation as a “flagrant violation of morals, charters, and international norms.”

Abu Aita further stated that the Zionist occupation is “attempting to conceal its crimes committed in Gaza, where over 200,000 people have been killed or injured,” condemning the “direct targeting of journalists aimed at silencing their voices and preventing them from conveying the truth to the world.”

In light of these atrocities, the ambassador noted that the Palestinian leadership has been “actively engaged in political and diplomatic efforts at all levels within UN bodies and international forums” since the onset of the Zionist aggression. He added that as the humanitarian crisis deepens, Palestinian authorities have intensified their outreach to countries worldwide to remind them of their moral and legal responsibilities regarding this situation.

On this occasion, the Palestinian diplomat expressed gratitude to Algeria—its presidency, government, and people—for their steadfast support of the Palestinian cause, commending “Algeria’s historic, consistent, and courageous positions in favor of the Palestinian struggle.”
