Algeria Joins Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, arrived this morning in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, on an official mission mandated by the Algerian President, according to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement clarified that the visit is part of Attaf’s participation in the signing ceremony of Algeria’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, scheduled to take place tomorrow on the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

According to the same source, Minister Attaf is expected to hold bilateral talks with his Malaysian counterpart to discuss ways of strengthening the partnership and cooperation between the two countries. He is also set to meet with the Secretary-General of ASEAN and several foreign ministers participating in the regional meeting.
