Trump Slams Musk’s ‘America Party’ as Ridiculous Amid Growing Rift

Washington – U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed Elon Musk’s newly announced “America Party” on Sunday, calling the idea of forming a third political party “ridiculous.” Speaking to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey, Trump said, “It’s always been a two-party system… He can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous.” His remarks came a day after Musk declared the creation of the America Party following a public poll he conducted on his platform, X.

The relationship between Trump and Musk, once cooperative, has turned openly hostile in recent weeks. Musk has harshly criticized Trump’s flagship tax and spending proposal, the “One, Big Beautiful Bill,” calling it “utterly insane and destructive.” Trump defended the legislation on Truth Social, emphasizing its removal of the federal Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate and stating it gives Americans the freedom to choose between fuel types without government interference.

Trump also revealed behind-the-scenes tensions, including Musk’s request for a close friend to lead NASA—a move Trump found questionable due to the individual’s Democratic background and business ties to Musk. Meanwhile, Musk took to X to claim that the America Party is necessary to fight the “Republican/Democrat Uniparty,” signaling a deepening political divide between the two high-profile figures.
