Algiers — On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Algeria’s Independence Day and the restoration of national sovereignty, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune delivered a message to the nation, emphasizing the historical significance of July 5 and Algeria’s continued commitment to national unity, sovereignty, and the values of the November Revolution.
President Tebboune began his message by recalling the pivotal moment in 1962 when Algeria reclaimed its independence after a long and bloody struggle against colonialism. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of Algerian martyrs and highlighted the enduring spirit of resistance that led to the country’s liberation.
“July 5 remains a profound and glorious date in our national memory,” he stated, describing it as a day when “the hateful colonial forces were driven out by determined men who had pledged their hearts and lives to free Algeria.”
Reflecting on the post-independence journey, the President underscored Algeria’s commitment to honoring the memory of those who gave their lives for freedom. He affirmed that the country’s progress since independence has been rooted in loyalty to the martyrs and the sacred duty to preserve the dignity and sovereignty of the homeland.
Algerian President noted that Algeria is now entering a new phase, one defined by a renewed sense of confidence in its national capabilities and institutions. He stressed the importance of unity, national cohesion, and citizenship as essential elements for addressing modern challenges and advancing the country’s development.
“Algeria today is facing various challenges with a renewed spirit and full confidence in our own capacities,” he said. “We are moving forward as a victorious nation, faithful to its founding principles and committed to building a strong and just state.”
The Algerian President also warned against global instability and external ambitions, urging Algerians to remain united and vigilant in order to safeguard the nation’s stability and sovereignty. He praised the Algerian people’s enduring loyalty and solidarity, describing them as a model of patriotism and cohesion for other nations.
Addressing the nation on the occasion that coincides with Youth Day, President Tebboune extended his congratulations to veterans of the liberation war, to the younger generation, and to all Algerians. He expressed his appreciation for the National People’s Army, the heir of the National Liberation Army, as well as the country’s security forces for their role in protecting the nation.
In closing, the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune called upon Algerians to remain faithful to the values of the revolution and to work together to overcome current challenges, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of past generations.
“Long live a free, proud, and lofty Algeria. Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs.”
