Algeria, Italy Hold Strategic Dialogue Ahead of Upcoming Intergovernmental Summit

ALGIERS – The Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Lounès Magramane, co-chaired, in Algiers, with his Italian counterpart, Riccardo Guariglia, the 4th Algerian-Italian strategic dialogue on bilateral relations and global political and security issues, as part of strengthening the existing strategic partnership between the two countries, the ministry said in a press release.

This strategic dialogue session, which is part of regular political consultations between the two countries, enabled to “conduct a comprehensive and constructive evaluation of the record of bilateral cooperation in various fields, by reviewing the progress made since the last 2024 session in Rome, through numerous high-level visits and meetings, notably the visit made by the Deputy President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, Antonio Tajani, to Algeria, at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf,” said the press release.

“This dialogue is part of the preparation for the 5th Algerian-Italian intergovernmental summit, under the presidency of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni,” scheduled in the Italian capital at the end of next July, added the same source.

In this respect, the two parties exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, noting a convergence of views between the two countries, particularly regarding developments in the situation in Palestine, Western Sahara, Libya and the Sahel region, concluded the press release.
