Iran Parliament Hands Law to Suspend IAEA Cooperation to Government for Implementation

Iran’s Parliament has officially passed a law suspending the country’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the legislation has now been handed over to the government for execution.

The announcement was made Thursday by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who said on social media that the law was delivered to the executive branch after receiving approval from the Guardian Council.

Ghalibaf emphasized that further cooperation with the IAEA would only be possible if Iran’s nuclear facilities and scientific personnel are sufficiently protected.

According to Iranian media reports, the bill was approved during a public parliamentary session held Wednesday.

Following the ratification, Guardian Council spokesperson Hadi Tahan Nazif declared that the Iranian government is now obligated to suspend all cooperation with the IAEA until national sovereignty and the safety of the country’s nuclear infrastructure are guaranteed.
