Algeria has reaffirmed its strategic commitment to enhancing continental energy cooperation during its participation in the 17th U.S.-Africa Business Summit, held in Luanda, Angola, under the theme “Paths to Prosperity: A Shared Vision for U.S.-Africa Partnership.”
Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, delivered a speech on behalf of the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during the high-level plenary session titled “US-Africa Energy Partnership: From Dialogue to Delivery”, in which he praised Angola’s leading role in organizing the summit and its contribution to advancing African issues, particularly in light of its current chairmanship of the African Union, emphasizing the importance of moving beyond declarations to the concrete implementation of energy projects.
Minister Arkab shed light on Africa’s immense energy wealth—both in hydrocarbons and renewable resources—and called for its effective investment through strategic partnerships that drive sustainable development and enhance the quality of life for African citizens.
In this context, he pointed to major strategic projects launched by Algeria to strengthen continental energy integration—most notably the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, regional electricity interconnection projects, renewable energy development programs, and the Green Hydrogen Plan. These initiatives, he noted, position Algeria as a pivotal player in the production and export of clean energy to both African and European markets. Moreover, he emphasized Algeria’s readiness to share its technical expertise with other African countries in support of the continental integration process.
