Kremlin Says Russia Ready to Support Iran Based on Tehran’s Needs Amid Escalation

MOSCOW – Russia is prepared to assist Iran in various ways amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East, depending on Tehran’s needs, the Kremlin stated on Monday. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Moscow has already offered mediation and reiterated its political support for Iran, calling this a “very important manifestation” of solidarity.

The remarks come as Iran and the Zionist entity remain locked in aerial combat following the Zionist entity’s surprise June 13 attacks on Iranian military and nuclear facilities. In response, Iran launched retaliatory strikes, prompting the United States to bomb three major Iranian nuclear sites early Sunday. President Donald Trump claimed the attacks caused severe damage and “obliteration” of the facilities.

Peskov confirmed that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is in Moscow for talks, providing Tehran the opportunity to present its vision and proposals for de-escalation. He noted the growing number of actors in the conflict and condemned the escalation, expressing Russia’s “deep regret.”

Addressing Trump’s recent comments suggesting regime change in Iran, Peskov firmly stated that leadership changes should be decided solely by a nation’s people, not by foreign powers. He also clarified that the recent U.S. strikes would not impact Moscow-Washington dialogue, which he described as an “independent process.”
