
ALGIERS — Detachments of the Algerian Army (PNA) apprehended nine individuals supporting terrorist groups during multiple operations conducted across the national territory from June 11 to 17, according to an operational report released by the National Defense Ministry on Wednesday.
“As part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and multifaceted organized crime, PNA units and detachments conducted several operations from June 11 to 17, 2025, achieving significant results that reflect the high professionalism, vigilance, and readiness of our Armed Forces across the country,” the ministry stated.
In counterterrorism efforts, the report noted that “PNA detachments arrested nine terrorist supporters in various operations nationwide.”
In the fight against organized crime, particularly drug trafficking, combined PNA detachments, in coordination with various security services, intercepted 50 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 3 quintals and 41 kilograms of cannabis across the Moroccan border. Additionally, 91 kilograms of cocaine and 1,453,577 psychotropic tablets were seized in operations across multiple Military Regions.
In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam, and In Salah, PNA detachments apprehended 216 individuals and seized 42 vehicles, 143 power generators, 84 jackhammers, as well as quantities of gold ore, explosives, detonation tools, and equipment used in illegal gold mining operations.
Furthermore, 14 other individuals were arrested, and one machine gun, one sniper rifle, one hunting rifle, 24,610 liters of fuel, 9 quintals of tobacco, and 5 tons of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation were seized during various operations.
In addition, the Coast Guard foiled illegal emigration attempts, rescuing 102 individuals aboard homemade vessels and apprehending 90 illegal immigrants of various nationalities across the country.
