Palestinian Telecommunications: Total Internet and Landline Blackout in Gaza After Zionist Strike

Gaza – The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced on Thursday that all internet and fixed-line communication services have been completely cut off in the Gaza Strip, following the Zionist targeting of the last remaining main fiber-optic route.

In a statement, the TRA highlighted the escalation of digital isolation in Gaza as a result of the systematic destruction of telecommunications infrastructure, despite repeated efforts to repair severed and alternative routes.

The TRA confirmed that the central and southern governorates of Gaza have now joined Gaza City and the northern areas in complete isolation for the second consecutive day, due to the ongoing targeting of critical communications networks and main routes.

It warned that this escalation threatens to completely sever Gaza from the outside world, depriving civilians of access to essential services — including relief operations, healthcare, media, and education — which are vital under the current circumstances.

The TRA called on all relevant local and international authorities to urgently intervene and facilitate the safe access of technical crews to repair sites. It emphasized that the continued blackout worsens the communications crisis and deepens the imposed isolation.

The authority also reported that Zionist forces are blocking technical crews from repairing cables damaged yesterday and are obstructing access to alternative routes. For months, attempts were made to restore alternative infrastructure, but those efforts were rejected, and crews were prevented from carrying out their work.

Since the beginning of Israel’s aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the territory has experienced repeated outages of internet and telecom services due to intense bombardment or the depletion of fuel needed to operate power generators.
